Today I started my job as a network page at CBS. I managed to take the subway without any large fiasco and got to work almost 30 minutes early. On my way, I accidentally walked across the set of a movie in Columbus Circle and was yelled at by the film crew. I maintained my cold, apathetic, New York demeanor, when the midwesterner inside of me was secretly peeing her pants.
My introduction to the life of a page was chronologically sorting videos. In this tiny room.
fun times.
BUT when I left to head farther into the heart of intimidatingly large and crowded Manhattan to fill out essential paperwork, I came across this little place:
They finally did it! A store for mid-day napping! Horrah!
On my way back to my room (which is kinda in Harlem) I got a little bit lost trying to find the subway, and stumbled around Rockefeller Center
On the train uptown, two homeless guys came into my car and sang a do-wop song followed by some pretty respectful panhandling.. And then they sang their way out of the car with a little “we’re sorry we have to go” harmony.
Finally, I walked through the Columbia campus, a few blocks from where I’m living. It’s library (the first picture) makes me salivate. Lucky Ivy-Leaguers!
And so was my first full day in New York. Fast, productive, tiring. Smelly & hot.
And tomorrow, on my day off, I will decided whether or not I want to shell out $25 to see the Kooks next week. I’m leaning towards yes.
